Switch to Serato? More of a backup system for me…

So this month I decided to waste more money and purchase myself a backup system.

As a DJ, none of us want to find ourselves unable to play a gig or certain music because of a problem!

I’ve had my share of problems in the past ranging from scratched CDs to forgetting my USB with all my music on.  I started taking my own CDJ2000s to any gigs I hadn’t played before but this is a complicated setup and isn’t always practical.

So I now have an SL4 and an 11″ MacBook air. My plan is to stick with USB mixing using the pioneers digital decks but with a laptop solution close to hand it’s always possible to plug in and go using any system, even if a deck is slightly busted!

There are many reasons people mix from their laptops & I can see the massive benefits, however, for many gigs I play it simply adds a barrier between the DJ and crowd where staring at the laptop screen just isn’t what I want to be doing!

Time will tell which I prefer but for now it’s still USB…

University of Bath Summer Ball 2014

Once again it was an absolute pleasure to play at the University of Bath Summer Ball this year (slightly late posting this).

C Squared and Tequila Phace played The Tub with the MTV crew.

We joined in with the action on the main stage and met Greg James back stage along with enjoying Hot dub time machine who’s set was amazing!

As always, a massive thanks to the SU staff and backstage crew who do an amazing job at every event!
